EDR continues to stride forwards in 2021

Who could have predicted the sheer impact the COVID-19 pandemic would have on world events in 2020? It is a year none of us will forget, ever.

At EDR we remain positive and have weathered the storm better than many. As we enter 2021 there is no doubt of the very significant challenges that lie ahead for the entire industry but thankfully, we have been able to continue acting impartially for clients where the requirement for honesty and transparency has been paramount in these times.

 Broadening the range

We have continued to diversify our range of services as well as being able to support clients in more geographies thanks to the efforts of our business development team and our chosen partnerships in these key regions. 

Our Environmental division, under the direction of Nick Robinson, has seen significant progression and the pipeline of opportunities looks promising for the year ahead. 

As a result of the reduced travel, we have been able to cover more ground via remote working and thereby get our message out quickly. With the exception of my son’s request to print out Lego pictures right in the middle of a major client presentation during the first lockdown, we’ve manged to use the time effectively to make new introductions ahead of what I hope will be meetings in person sometime soon.

Innovation and progression

EDR Remote QC™

Early last year we fast tracked the deployment of our remote marine seismic QC system, supported by clients’ need and appetite, particularly where logistical challenges hindered or prevented personnel movements. We believe this to be the first genuine game changer in the offshore QC market in several years. 

This innovation and our investment in new technology across the business is demonstration of how EDR continues to adapt our offering to ensure the integrity of our clients’ data and provide the very best project oversight.

People are our success 

Our team continues to build slowly, and we are very pleased to be working with Andrea Miscia who has had a very positive impact already. There is no doubt the relationships he has formed over the years are keen to work with us this year and beyond. 

The loss of my good friend and fellow director Philippe Queguiner last year was truly tragic, particularly at such a young age and so unexpectedly. Sadly, due to the ongoing restrictions I was unable to attend his send-off (as indeed so many of us were at a time when France limited funerals to just 3 persons in attendance). Not only does he leave a huge hole personally, but he will also be sadly missed by those who knew him in the industry. He was a remarkable character, and his legacy will live on.

After 9 years together, we say farewell to Claire Flower who has recently become a mother and will go on to support her husband’s new business. Claire has been a truly loyal and devoted friend both personally and professionally and we wish her every success for the future.   

Continuing the journey

This year will undoubtedly see many challenges led by the ongoing disruption the pandemic continues to cause as well as the changing geo-political landscape and the continued push for the energy transition. 

At EDR we remain in a great position and with no debt or leverage in the business, we are able to continue acting impartially for clients who understand the value we can bring to their programs. Our traditional values, strong relations and business integrity will undoubtedly help us to continue with determination, passion and good humour.
